Shree Krishnaswami Temple

Known as Maha Shanthi Doothan (The great Messenger of Peace), Poothakuzhy Sree Krishnaswami is the Lord of Chenappady, a landscape protected by divine blessing from all directions – Chenappady Sree Dharmashastha from east, Kizhakekkara Devi & Kannampalli Devi from south and Idayattukavu Devi & Ilankavu Devi from north and Poothakuzhy Sree Krishnaswami from west.

Looking westwards, the presiding deity of Chenappady Poothakuzhy Sree Krishnaswami Temple is a rare prathishta (installation) in viswaroopa bhavam. [Just before the Mahabharath war, Bhagawan Krishna goes to Kourava Court for brokering peace between the warring cousins. Bhagawan Krishna tries to cajole Duryodhana into sharing the kingdom with the Pandavas. Wicked Duryodhana gets agitated with repeated request of Bhagawan Krishna to “give Pandavas” and understanding the fact that the Pandavas have no existence without Bhagawan Krishna, Duryodhana orders to bind the Almighty God with ropes. Bhagawan Krishna gives them the slip and gives His viswaroopa darshan to the devotees present. The temple idol represents this form.]

Known as kshipra-prasadi (easy to please) and kshipra-kopi (easily gets annoyed), the Chenappady Poothakuzhy Sree Krishnaswami is kind, caring, compassionate and benevolent; He showers the devotees with the boons of their choice.
Being very near to the holy place Erumeli, where Shree Ayyappan killed the demon Mahishi and saved the people from the terror and tyranny unleashed by her, the Sabarimala pilgrims make sure they visit this temple popularly known as Malayala Dwaraka , especially during the November – January period (mandala kalam).
